Fused and Stackable Rings

Fusing is an ancient technique used to connect precious metals permanently. Cleaner, faster, and less toxic than soldering, it is a great introduction to torch work. Already know how to use a torch? Come and further your fire manipulation skills. Besides fusing, students will also learn how to: measure for rings, explore various hammering techniques to create surface texture, stretch metal, punch holes, and wire wrap. Explore/discuss various polishing options. BYOB: bring/buy your own beads for embellishment choices.

Freeform Dapped Bead with Kate Richbourg

Freeform Dapped Bead

Learn to make a great bead that is perfect to use as a centerpiece or stands alone. Either way, it will make a statement! Students will make a stamped and dapped bead that is tube riveted together. Then decorate the edge rim of the bead with free-form wire wrapped beads. No prior metalworking experience is required.

Learn how to use an industrial tube wringer to create this unique fan pendant in copper or silver. Students will explore variations of a simple design. Students will manipulate the folds and dap the form to create the shape, and add a focal bead and wrapped bail.
